Goals

If anyone has taught me to make goals and then reward yourself for doing it that would be my sister MaryAnn.  Thank you Mary.  Making goals is really a fun game.  I've been crazy obsessed about goals for my new job.  How much sales i want to make in January and how many bookings i need to get from a show, packages to create, newsletters to write ect......so today i finally stepped back and decided it was time to think about the bigger picture.  Goals for my life so that i will be able to stay a good warm person and faithful member of the church.  OK so here are some goals that i'm just going to think up right now....it's the whole new years resolution thing really getting in me.  Plus since i'm writing this out for you all to see feel free to ask me how i'm doing with my goals so then it'll keep me in check :)  I have a guilty pleasure of watching reality TV and .........i've thought about it now and i need to think of a new goal because not watching so you think you can dance is not ok for me. Ok starting over.  Reading.  I'm into the 4th book of little house in the prairie....... which should not be that impressive since i started the series like a year ago and they are grade 2 reading level i think. so my official goal is to read more often. lets say 1 hour a day.  i need to read my scriptures anyway and lets face it my english skills are going down the tube. Reading it is. Next goal is eating dinner at the dinner table with Mike and Owen as a family.  It's so nice when we do it. I would like it to be an everyday thing.  Next goal is being a missionary.   We had the missionaries over yesterday and they got me all excited.  well i guess for now my last goal would have to be looking for oppurtunities to give service because i just don't ever really think about it.  I serve my family and in my church calling but actually looking for more chances to serve would be cool. Thats all for now. Merry Christmas! Oh i almost forgot. my reward if i do all these awesome things. Well i think it should be a $200 shopping spree. Yes i like it.

Sleeping with one eye open

I put Owen down for his morning nap today and he woke up an hour later to eat.  After i fed him he fell asleep on my shoulder. We were in the living room and so i slid down to the floor and moved him over on to a blanket to finish his nap.  Well he seriously had one eye open, so every time i tried to get up and go do something he woke up. I had to lie next to him till both eyes were closed. it was so funny.

Owen took his first steps by himself today!

Mike

The other day mike was watching TV and he was watching about how this mans wife got in an accident and lost her memory.  Her husband came and visited her in the hospital but they had to get to know eachother all over again. They eventually fell in love all over again and got married.  It's a really romantic story.  So right after Mike saw this and told me about it he said "I would fall in love you with you again.  Would you fall in love with me again?"  I said yes of course but i thought it was really cute.  Just the way he said it, so seriously.

It Worked!

So since i wrote that post and admited that i still rock my baby to sleep i knew it had to stop.  So i prepared myself for a brutal week of Owen torchure.  The first day I could hardly stand it and was crying myself by the end of it. Day 2 i was on the phone asking for advice, cleaning my house like a crazy person trying to be distacted from his crying. Third day was hard cause i had already done everything in the house and Owen was starting to get a cold.  Now the forth blessed day is here!  Five minutes! only Five minutes of crying tonight and he fell asleep!  I am so glad i stayed strong, so worth it!  Now next week will be teaching him how to sleep through the night.  I figure he needs to learn all these things before he turns one. That will be in just over 2 months.  I'm so excited right now.

Life

Well a lot has been going on. I started a new job with Norwex and I am now so busy. I'm actually really enjoying it. I love being busy when i want to be. I seriously spent months and months stressing out about what I was going to do about the second income needed for our family. Not only is it a good income but i'm really helping people and i love that too.......ok i don't want to sound like a plug for norwex but i really do like it! Anyway my son is crying right now. I hate how inconsistent i am about bed time, and so does he. Tomorrow i'm waking up at 6am with him to start our day. I hate waking up early but i don't care anymore. if i can just have my son asleep by 7:00pm it would be worth it. just typing 7:00pm was so hard for me like it will never happen, but it will! I get so much done when i start my day early anyway. I have to mop my floors everyday might as well do it at 7am. I have this great work out that is good for your back that i need to do because i'm still rocking my baby to sleep which is killing me. All these silly mistakes new moms make. I must tell you though i spent the best day watching Shelli and Darrin's kids the other day. I know that they aren't always that perfect everyday but seriously it made me so excited to have a bunch of kids in my own home. Just the way they all looked out for each other and were listening and communicating with each other. I loved it. .......ok it took a hour but he's finally asleep. brutal. He is truly a wonderful baby it's just me and creating a schedule for us so his life can be consistent and predictable. is this possible? I keep trying and keep failing......i guess i better keep trying so i can get better at it. I keep saying i and i'm sorry mike is raising this child as well:) He's so great. When he plays with him he gives 110% in it, and is sweating after 10min. it cracks me up. he makes me laugh so much.

Owen and Tatzu

Tatzu is our bearded dragon. Around noon he gets really active and as you can see Owen loves watching him. I fear the day that Owen learns how to open his cage(it's not hard). Honestly Mike will probable love to think of some other genius idea for Tatzu's cage to make it Owen friendly. Owen is sitting up now, it's very cute!

China Beach

Mike and Brent were able to get Wednesday afternoon off work so we could all spend the rest of the day at China Beach. The weather was perfect! Not very windy and sunny. The waves were great for learners like me.

Alaskan Cruise Visitors

Well I got a surprising phone call from my Uncle Ken on Thursday. He said that he is on an Alaskan Cruise ship and they will be coming into Victoria Friday night. I was really excited to see them since it has been 3 years since the last time.
We had fun walking downtown around the harbor. This brass cowgirl would be a statue until you would give her money. Ken got a wink and put at gun point for a dollar I think.
From Left to Right. Ryan(Ken and Lori's Nephew), Mike, Owen (in the stroller), Uncle Ken, Aunt Lori and there son Mike.
It's not a visit in Victoria without some fish and chips, so we went to Fish on Fifth and had a good time. I'm really glad they called. We had a great time catching up.

Food!

We have just started giving Owen baby food! He's not 6 months just yet but i can't wait anymore. He has done so good, and I'm praying that he will get full enough to sleep more through the night.

This face was after the first few force feeds. It's didn't take long before he opened his mouth for more. Now I have to prepare myself for the sticky diapers. Oh that reminds me. The other day while we were driving home i was not feeling well with a head ache and then i started feeling nausea's. I started explaining to Suzy how I would throw up when i smell "stale air" when i was pregnant. Suzy pulls over because i seriously was going to loose it. Suzy says" ...yeah i think it smells like a stinky diaper." IT WAS! We weren't smelling any ordinary stale air. It was tainted by baby poop! Thankfully i did not throw up. I changed his bum and started feeling a lot better.

Fun at Home

Thursday nights they have a Market on Sidney's main street. We were loving all the cute jewelery but we decided to make our own. Thankfully the beads at Michaels were on sale

The next favourite thing to do was "Sing Star". It's a Singing Game on our PS2. We had lots of fun playing it at Brent and Tracey's house as well.
Annie and Lucy were so sweet taking care of Owen. They were a great help!
In the mornings Owen usually wakes up very happy and plays in his playpen. Lucy loved to come into our room and play with him before I woke up.

Sunday Nap

Fever Bug

Owen got his shots and had a fever after having them. I was given these awesome stickers that can show you what temperature your baby is at. Although this picture is pretty self explanatory.

Butchart Garden

Suzy and the girls went to Butchart Gardens and had a beautiful time. It was a very hot day. It smelled so wonderful! They saw a play and were able to be princesses in the play from the kingdom of Utah. The most beautiful flowers they'd ever seen besides Dave's rose garden at home.

Elk Lake

Well the weather was been so HOT! The lake has gotten so warm that even Owen could go swimming. My hair is doing some freaky thing here but we had a blast!

Annie was having the time of her life!
Lucy lived for the ocean scooter

Suzy played games with Owen on the beach. They were laughing there heads off.

More Sailing Fun!

Jane got a new camera that can hold 500 pictures and by the time it was 1 o'clock in the afternoon she had gotten up to 256 pictures. She is so cute! Jane is the lucky one that gets to go with my parents for the next week on the sail boat. They are going up to the Desolation Sounds past Naniamo. I hope she saves some room on her camera:)

Suzy was so sweet and took Owen down into the cabin and sang him songs till he fell asleep. She then held him for the next hour while they both rested. I am so glad that Suzy could meet Owen while he is still a baby.

Sailing on Hazel Jensen

Hazel Jensen is the name of my mom and dad's boat. It is also my dad's grandma's name. We spent 2 days out on the Hazel J. The first day we went from Sidney harbor to Cowichan Bay to have lunch at the Rock Cod Cafe. We motored most of the way there and then sailed a bit on the way back. The next day we went from Sidney harbor to Ganges harbor on Salt Spring Island. When we got up to the town there came a circus parade walking through. The Saturday market was all set up and the place was packed! It was lots of fun walking around and looking at all the amazing artwork. We really enjoyed just sitting in the boat talking and enjoying the beautiful world we live in.

As you can see it was a full boat

My sister Suzanne and her 3 daughters drove here from Utah. I am just loving having them here!

Welding

It's as simple as making sure you don't go blind or electrocute yourself to death, then it's lots of fun. Thanks to Mike and Darren showing me how it's done I can now make some what of a descent weld. Mike and I want to weld a table so we don't have to keep working on the ground. Eventually I would like to make something pretty.

Homesick

I have lived away from my home town Calgary for 3 years in September. I finally got homesick last week. It really hit me. It just made me so sad that never in my life will I ever be able to just get in my car and drive the 10 minutes to my parents house and see them, or my siblings.
What more can I say. Moving to Victoria was my choice, and it has been one of my best. I had to call my sister Suzy that has lived in Utah for more then 10 years with her family and we confided homesick stories to each other. My grandma says we will have the most in common just because Suzy is the oldest and I am the youngest in our family. It has been fun getting to know her more and finding those things in common happy and sad. I love you Suzy.
My parents bought a beautiful sailboat that they can bring to sail the gulf islands in. They will be here next week to do just that. I am so glad they bought that boat, so they will come and visit more. Of course they would come to see us anyways but now we don't have to go to the museum anymore, but get in the sailboat and explore! and have adventures! I can't wait!
I do miss all my family members very much. I look forward to the next time we talk on the phone, or email, or see each other. I love you.
