Homesick

I have lived away from my home town Calgary for 3 years in September. I finally got homesick last week. It really hit me. It just made me so sad that never in my life will I ever be able to just get in my car and drive the 10 minutes to my parents house and see them, or my siblings.
What more can I say. Moving to Victoria was my choice, and it has been one of my best. I had to call my sister Suzy that has lived in Utah for more then 10 years with her family and we confided homesick stories to each other. My grandma says we will have the most in common just because Suzy is the oldest and I am the youngest in our family. It has been fun getting to know her more and finding those things in common happy and sad. I love you Suzy.
My parents bought a beautiful sailboat that they can bring to sail the gulf islands in. They will be here next week to do just that. I am so glad they bought that boat, so they will come and visit more. Of course they would come to see us anyways but now we don't have to go to the museum anymore, but get in the sailboat and explore! and have adventures! I can't wait!
I do miss all my family members very much. I look forward to the next time we talk on the phone, or email, or see each other. I love you.

First time at the Pool

Here are the first wrinkly piggies from the pool. We had fun sitting in the little baby pool at Commonwealth Place. Playing motor boat and pass the baby. I can't wait to teach Owen how to swim. I just love the water!

Owen smiled maybe one time. This was pretty much his face the whole time.
Mike was able to get him relaxed a couple times on his back. It's cool how babies have this one triangle ab in the middle. He was definitely working out his "triab".

Playing with Aubrey

Aubrey and Owen had fun rolling on the floor together. I think these will be the only days when Aubrey or Owen can whack the other in the head and the other being perfectly fine with it.

The Backpack

Well the backpack is out! We went for a walk to our new favourite beach just a 10 minute walk from our house. It is surprisingly very sandy, and i can't wait to have a beach fire. Having beach fires of course makes me think of Dave (my brother) and his family. I'll be thinking about you guys every time we have one. Owen was a trooper in his hat that's to big.

Canada Day

Mike, Owen and I went downtown Victoria for the Canada Day fireworks. It seems as though all the youth and young adults in this city go into hiding the whole year until this day. Wait. You mean i won't see any of them at the grocery store and beach during the day. right. anyway, it was wierd at first. i felt out of place . there was definitely know one running towards us yelling "Mike! Julianne! What's Up?!" Like all the other 15 year olds there. The outfits were classic. sporting the Canada Eh? underwear over the spandex. You all know.
It was getting close to 10:00 and we were looking for a place to sit. It was funny because i was always looking for the best escape root with out really thinking about it. Mike called me on it and helped me realize we are here for the experience and not to sit, leave the fireworks 5 minutes early to get to the car fastest. haha classic. So the fireworks were awesome. Owen sat so still and watched them the entire time.
Now in "Prince of Whales Elementary" We always saluted the flag after we sang the national anthem. It goes like this.
"I salute the flag. The emblem of my country. To Her I pledge my love and loyalty."
I have never heard anyone else in this country say this except the people how went to my elementary. Wierd. I will stay true to the salute and say it every time i finish singing the national anthem!
Oh Canada! My home and native land! God bless you!
